In these times in which awareness of Green Logistics is on the rise and the optimization of energy use is becoming more important for economic success, ONLINE Systemlogistik für Spedition und Service GmbH, headquartered in Paderborn, has developed a method for implementing the DIN EN 16258 standard. They have done this through the DEKRA certified process for calculating greenhouse gas emissions by transport service providers, based on the real data from all affiliated domestic partners.
The standard includes the requirements for the calculation and documentation of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by transport service providers. With its implementation, it is possible to balance the emissions of greenhouse gasses for each freight run and to realize potential savings. “We are very happy to be the first general cargo partnership to implement the method certified by DEKRA,” announced General Manager Sandra Bugiel. With its successful implementation in May of 2014, the freight forwarding partnership received the DIN EN 16258. It is based on the DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental certification.
